Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance

Today is my baby girl's fifth birthday.

That's five years gone by since I spent less than 12 hours in the labor room fighting for my life and hers. It hasn't been an easy trek, but every step is worth it. I can only hope I have done well.

This song is dedicated to my little girl, and I hope she lives and learns in every step she takes.

Featured song: "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack [2000] (Country, Country pop)

The song is by Lee Ann Womack in her album of the same name, "I Hope You Dance."

I know not a lot of people fancy Country music, but I do listen to this genre because I've found that most of their songs are quite heartfelt.

I've listened to Lee Ann Womack a couple of times already, and you could say that this must be the first time that the song hit home. Probably because when I heard this song I was still single, and now that I've got kids, it just makes more sense to me, you know?

I think the song almost fully encompasses my wishes or hopes for my children, and not just my little girl. But today is her day, and this song goes out to my little girl.

For those who have difficulty listening to the lyrics of the song, I'm posting it below.

Happy Birthday, Little Girl!

Lyrics:

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

Pitbull ft. Trick Daddy - City of God

Note to audience: This featured song may contain undesirable words that may not be suitable for minors.

This song deserves a post. Why? Because it has been playing in my brain for ... say 4 days and running. T_T Yes, this is my worst case of Last Song Syndrome that I have not been able to shake off.

Featured song: "City of God" by Pitbull featuring Trick Daddy [Hip-Hop] (2009/2010)

The song is performed by Pitbull featuring Trick Daddy, and I think this was not released together with any album. According to research, it was supposed to be included in his 2009 album, but due to some sample clearance issues, it was not able to make it.

I have to be honest, however, that this song is not stuck in my head because of the lyrics. If you listened to the music, its the "parapapapapapapa" or whatever it is that plays in my head all day long and in the middle of the night. You like that?

Although I do like SOME of Pitbull's songs, this just might be the only one that is stuck for a long period of time. :( HALP.

Anyway, I just wanted to infect you with a nice LSS for today.

And yes, I know you will listen to the song. ;) Let's dance!!

Cheers!

3OH!3 ft. Ke$ha - My First Kiss

How was your first kiss? LOL I honestly cannot remember mine.

Still, that should not stop me from liking this next featured song.

Featured song: "My First Kiss" by 3OH!3 ft. Ke$ha [2010] (Electro, dance-pop)

I am not a huge fan of Ke$ha, because there is something about her that just doesn't really settle with me. Her voice is not exactly that appealing, too. But I cannot deny that this song's hook is the type that induces LSS (last song syndrome) that would last a week or more. Plus, I really really love the opening part. LOL

"My First Kiss" is the first single of 3OH!3 from "Streets of Gold" which is their third album. The song was also featured in Hellcats, which is where I was introduced to it. It makes me want to dance and ... dance. :]

Watch the video. I think it is quite interesting.

Enjoy!

Scouting for Girls - Gotta Keep Smiling

Hi folks!

I'm feeling a wee bit sheepish here. Sorry for the absence. I am truly down in a rut and for several days now, I have been trying to get out of the depression and the writer's block. But as what good psychologists say, nothing actually gets people out of depression except that one day they feel much better.

So for those who are wondering where I have been, never mind that. I'm here now.

I would like to start off with this very nice song I across two days ago.

Featured song: "Gotta Keep Smiling" by Scouting for Girls (2010) [Pop rock]

The lyrics of the song and the wonderful upbeat melody sure got me hooked. Did you listen to it? I must have listened to it numerous times already (check my Last.fm account).

I came across this song while watching this new TV series called "Hellcats". Over the next few posts, you may find songs that I discovered from Hellcats. Although the series is relatively new, it stars Aly Michalka (whose song I featured here) and Ashley Tisdale of High School Musical. I shall ponder more about Hellcats some other time, but I would like to say that the series made me jump back on my feet. The music in the series simply rocks!

The song Gotta Keep Smiling is by Scouting for Girls, a British pop band that was formed in 2005. The song is the B-side of their hit single "This Ain't a Love Song" (also a nice empowering song), but Gotta Keep Smiling is rather hard to find. I did my best, so I hope you will enjoy it.

So, until the next post, you gaiz.

Peace!

Lyrics:

"Gotta Keep Smiling" by Scouting for Girls
When a frown is the best you can do.
When you're down - when you're down in a bad place.
You with the sad face

When you're stuck, when you're falling apart.
In a rut, yet you're stuck with excuses,
Oh baby I'm useless.

Boys will be boys, girls will be girls
It's a mixed up, muddled up, messed up world.
Are you taking the mick, cos ain't life a bitch sometimes ?

You got to keep smiling, through the thunder and lightning.
You got to keep trying, don't cry before you're hurt.
You got to keep Smiling through the thunder and lightning
You got to keep fighting because things can't get no worse.

Take a break. Take a day to relax.
Getaway - getaway to the sunshine,
throw me a lifeline

When life is hard, when life is just unfair,
We'll have a laugh - have a laugh at the rat race,
we'll make a new place

Boys will be boys, girls will be girls
It's a mixed up, muddled up, messed up world.
Are you taking the mick, ain't life a bitch sometimes?

You got to keep smiling, through the thunder and lightning.
You got to keep trying, don't cry before you're hurt.
You got to keep Smiling through the thunder and lightning
You got to keep fighting because things can't get no worse.

Gipsy Kings - Hay Un Amigo En Mi [Toy Story 3 Soundtrack]

I was going to totally abandon this blog - again - because I did not want to talk to a lot of people, especially those who can only think bad things. Then again, I figured I do have a lot of friends who may miss my glorious presence, so here I go! :)

This next song is by one of my favorite, favorite, favorite bands. I have been a huge fan since forever, and those who know me would realize that I do love this group.

Featured song: "Hay Un Amigo En Mi / You've Got A Friend In Me" by Gipsy Kings [2010] (Spanish, Soundtrack)

I LOVE Gipsy Kings!! You could say I am one of their biggest fans since I cannot seem to stop blogging about them. Hehehe...

My grandfather influenced me into listening to the group when I was little, and since then, I have been listening to their tunes again and again. Their songs never really grow old, you know. So listen! :)

The featured song is one of their latest singles called "Hay Un Amigo En Mi." If you know of the movie Toy Story 3, well the official song of the movie is called "You've Got A Friend In Me." It is a touching song really, but this version done by the Gipsy Kings makes me more nostalgic and I simply think it adds more magic than the original song. But that's just me.

Let me take this opportunity then to introduce you to some of the songs that they have already released years ago. These songs are just a few of my faves, but you could say these top the list. I hope you enjoy it though!

Till next time!!

Wakey!Wakey!

Well, sorry for being lazy. I have been hiding in my hole for sometime. Heehee... You can see from my Last.fm account on the sidebar that I have been online and listening to music - just not blogging yet. :)

But hey, worry not! I have some good finds! Including this new band that I have been obsessing over lately.

Featured band: Wakey!Wakey! [Mike Grubbs as lead singer] (Indie)

I came across Mike Grubbs while watching One Tree Hill this year. Don't you just love how One Tree Hill introduces great musical finds? Music is perhaps the main reason why I still watch the show after all these years. I do not like how the show is headed for, actually, but when the show closes, I wonder where I can find new music finds? :)

Anyway, Mike Grubbs. I do not know much about this singer or anything about his band, Wakey!Wakey! A Wiki page has not yet been made. However, I know that this is a relatively new band that has done covers and some raw material on Myspace.

What I love, love, love, love about the songs of Wakey!Wakey! is the instrumental parts, the deep lyrics, and Grubbs' voice. Dude! You must listen! This is why I have shared a playlist instead of my one song per post. You must totally, definitely, shouldly spend time listening a few of their tracks.

My favorite tracks / songs so far are the following:
  • Almost Everything
  • Light Outside
  • Dance So Good
  • The Oh Song
  • Twenty-Two
Other than that, I still love listening to the rest of the songs. I guess I just could not FAVE everything. Almost everything anyway. ;)

Salt-N-Pepa - Push It

Hey folks!

I don't think I quite recovered from a trip to memory lane, so how about another dance song for tonight? I should pick us up for this mid-week low.

Wake up folks! It is two more days 'til Friday! :)

Featured song: "Push It" by Salt-N-Pepa [1987] (Freestyle, Contemporary RnB)

If you have not heard this song, then I declare that you have been under a rock all of your life! Yes, I am dead serious. Come on! Lots of movies have used this single at some point, and even some TV shows have also featured this song. There have also been a lot airplay both on radio and other media, so you really do not have any excuse not to have heard this song.

Do not be fooled by the line, "This dance ain't for everybody, only the sexy people," because that's just a reference to something. I do find this song particularly nice to dance around to - and I am not sexy! - so let's dance, people!

Oh, the song is by Salt-N-Pepa, featuring DJ Spinderella, too! You may have heard their other song, "The Showstopper." :)
