Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance

Today is my baby girl's fifth birthday.

That's five years gone by since I spent less than 12 hours in the labor room fighting for my life and hers. It hasn't been an easy trek, but every step is worth it. I can only hope I have done well.

This song is dedicated to my little girl, and I hope she lives and learns in every step she takes.

Featured song: "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack [2000] (Country, Country pop)

The song is by Lee Ann Womack in her album of the same name, "I Hope You Dance."

I know not a lot of people fancy Country music, but I do listen to this genre because I've found that most of their songs are quite heartfelt.

I've listened to Lee Ann Womack a couple of times already, and you could say that this must be the first time that the song hit home. Probably because when I heard this song I was still single, and now that I've got kids, it just makes more sense to me, you know?

I think the song almost fully encompasses my wishes or hopes for my children, and not just my little girl. But today is her day, and this song goes out to my little girl.

For those who have difficulty listening to the lyrics of the song, I'm posting it below.

Happy Birthday, Little Girl!

Lyrics:

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

Pitbull ft. Trick Daddy - City of God

Note to audience: This featured song may contain undesirable words that may not be suitable for minors.

This song deserves a post. Why? Because it has been playing in my brain for ... say 4 days and running. T_T Yes, this is my worst case of Last Song Syndrome that I have not been able to shake off.

Featured song: "City of God" by Pitbull featuring Trick Daddy [Hip-Hop] (2009/2010)

The song is performed by Pitbull featuring Trick Daddy, and I think this was not released together with any album. According to research, it was supposed to be included in his 2009 album, but due to some sample clearance issues, it was not able to make it.

I have to be honest, however, that this song is not stuck in my head because of the lyrics. If you listened to the music, its the "parapapapapapapa" or whatever it is that plays in my head all day long and in the middle of the night. You like that?

Although I do like SOME of Pitbull's songs, this just might be the only one that is stuck for a long period of time. :( HALP.

Anyway, I just wanted to infect you with a nice LSS for today.

And yes, I know you will listen to the song. ;) Let's dance!!

Cheers!

3OH!3 ft. Ke$ha - My First Kiss

How was your first kiss? LOL I honestly cannot remember mine.

Still, that should not stop me from liking this next featured song.

Featured song: "My First Kiss" by 3OH!3 ft. Ke$ha [2010] (Electro, dance-pop)

I am not a huge fan of Ke$ha, because there is something about her that just doesn't really settle with me. Her voice is not exactly that appealing, too. But I cannot deny that this song's hook is the type that induces LSS (last song syndrome) that would last a week or more. Plus, I really really love the opening part. LOL

"My First Kiss" is the first single of 3OH!3 from "Streets of Gold" which is their third album. The song was also featured in Hellcats, which is where I was introduced to it. It makes me want to dance and ... dance. :]

Watch the video. I think it is quite interesting.

Enjoy!

Scouting for Girls - Gotta Keep Smiling

Hi folks!

I'm feeling a wee bit sheepish here. Sorry for the absence. I am truly down in a rut and for several days now, I have been trying to get out of the depression and the writer's block. But as what good psychologists say, nothing actually gets people out of depression except that one day they feel much better.

So for those who are wondering where I have been, never mind that. I'm here now.

I would like to start off with this very nice song I across two days ago.

Featured song: "Gotta Keep Smiling" by Scouting for Girls (2010) [Pop rock]

The lyrics of the song and the wonderful upbeat melody sure got me hooked. Did you listen to it? I must have listened to it numerous times already (check my Last.fm account).

I came across this song while watching this new TV series called "Hellcats". Over the next few posts, you may find songs that I discovered from Hellcats. Although the series is relatively new, it stars Aly Michalka (whose song I featured here) and Ashley Tisdale of High School Musical. I shall ponder more about Hellcats some other time, but I would like to say that the series made me jump back on my feet. The music in the series simply rocks!

The song Gotta Keep Smiling is by Scouting for Girls, a British pop band that was formed in 2005. The song is the B-side of their hit single "This Ain't a Love Song" (also a nice empowering song), but Gotta Keep Smiling is rather hard to find. I did my best, so I hope you will enjoy it.

So, until the next post, you gaiz.

Peace!

Lyrics:

"Gotta Keep Smiling" by Scouting for Girls
When a frown is the best you can do.
When you're down - when you're down in a bad place.
You with the sad face

When you're stuck, when you're falling apart.
In a rut, yet you're stuck with excuses,
Oh baby I'm useless.

Boys will be boys, girls will be girls
It's a mixed up, muddled up, messed up world.
Are you taking the mick, cos ain't life a bitch sometimes ?

You got to keep smiling, through the thunder and lightning.
You got to keep trying, don't cry before you're hurt.
You got to keep Smiling through the thunder and lightning
You got to keep fighting because things can't get no worse.

Take a break. Take a day to relax.
Getaway - getaway to the sunshine,
throw me a lifeline

When life is hard, when life is just unfair,
We'll have a laugh - have a laugh at the rat race,
we'll make a new place

Boys will be boys, girls will be girls
It's a mixed up, muddled up, messed up world.
Are you taking the mick, ain't life a bitch sometimes?

You got to keep smiling, through the thunder and lightning.
You got to keep trying, don't cry before you're hurt.
You got to keep Smiling through the thunder and lightning
You got to keep fighting because things can't get no worse.

Gipsy Kings - Hay Un Amigo En Mi [Toy Story 3 Soundtrack]

I was going to totally abandon this blog - again - because I did not want to talk to a lot of people, especially those who can only think bad things. Then again, I figured I do have a lot of friends who may miss my glorious presence, so here I go! :)

This next song is by one of my favorite, favorite, favorite bands. I have been a huge fan since forever, and those who know me would realize that I do love this group.

Featured song: "Hay Un Amigo En Mi / You've Got A Friend In Me" by Gipsy Kings [2010] (Spanish, Soundtrack)

I LOVE Gipsy Kings!! You could say I am one of their biggest fans since I cannot seem to stop blogging about them. Hehehe...

My grandfather influenced me into listening to the group when I was little, and since then, I have been listening to their tunes again and again. Their songs never really grow old, you know. So listen! :)

The featured song is one of their latest singles called "Hay Un Amigo En Mi." If you know of the movie Toy Story 3, well the official song of the movie is called "You've Got A Friend In Me." It is a touching song really, but this version done by the Gipsy Kings makes me more nostalgic and I simply think it adds more magic than the original song. But that's just me.

Let me take this opportunity then to introduce you to some of the songs that they have already released years ago. These songs are just a few of my faves, but you could say these top the list. I hope you enjoy it though!

Till next time!!

Wakey!Wakey!

Well, sorry for being lazy. I have been hiding in my hole for sometime. Heehee... You can see from my Last.fm account on the sidebar that I have been online and listening to music - just not blogging yet. :)

But hey, worry not! I have some good finds! Including this new band that I have been obsessing over lately.

Featured band: Wakey!Wakey! [Mike Grubbs as lead singer] (Indie)

I came across Mike Grubbs while watching One Tree Hill this year. Don't you just love how One Tree Hill introduces great musical finds? Music is perhaps the main reason why I still watch the show after all these years. I do not like how the show is headed for, actually, but when the show closes, I wonder where I can find new music finds? :)

Anyway, Mike Grubbs. I do not know much about this singer or anything about his band, Wakey!Wakey! A Wiki page has not yet been made. However, I know that this is a relatively new band that has done covers and some raw material on Myspace.

What I love, love, love, love about the songs of Wakey!Wakey! is the instrumental parts, the deep lyrics, and Grubbs' voice. Dude! You must listen! This is why I have shared a playlist instead of my one song per post. You must totally, definitely, shouldly spend time listening a few of their tracks.

My favorite tracks / songs so far are the following:
  • Almost Everything
  • Light Outside
  • Dance So Good
  • The Oh Song
  • Twenty-Two
Other than that, I still love listening to the rest of the songs. I guess I just could not FAVE everything. Almost everything anyway. ;)

Salt-N-Pepa - Push It

Hey folks!

I don't think I quite recovered from a trip to memory lane, so how about another dance song for tonight? I should pick us up for this mid-week low.

Wake up folks! It is two more days 'til Friday! :)

Featured song: "Push It" by Salt-N-Pepa [1987] (Freestyle, Contemporary RnB)

If you have not heard this song, then I declare that you have been under a rock all of your life! Yes, I am dead serious. Come on! Lots of movies have used this single at some point, and even some TV shows have also featured this song. There have also been a lot airplay both on radio and other media, so you really do not have any excuse not to have heard this song.

Do not be fooled by the line, "This dance ain't for everybody, only the sexy people," because that's just a reference to something. I do find this song particularly nice to dance around to - and I am not sexy! - so let's dance, people!

Oh, the song is by Salt-N-Pepa, featuring DJ Spinderella, too! You may have heard their other song, "The Showstopper." :)

Cameo - Word Up!

Hehehehe Oh me, oh my! I am a neglectful blogger. So many blackouts and Internet problems as of late. And even some computer problems so... well, patience dear friends. I do have something for this marvelous Friday.

Featured song: "Word Up!" by Cameo [1986] (R&B, Funk)

Word Up! is an awesome song to kick off Friday, IMHO. Makes you wanna dance, actually. Hrhrhr

I remember listening to this song when I was younger. However, I forgot about this song until last year when during my dance classes, my teacher featured this in the line up of songs. It is indeed fun to dance to. Yes?

This song contributed to much of the fame of Cameo, although other bands have made covers of this song, even the nu metal band, Korn! Other artists/bands who did covers of this song include Gun, Willis, The BossHoss, Cochino, Digital Alkemist, and Jan Delay.

I hope you enjoy it!

The Ramones - Poison Heart

Happy Sunday folks! What's up? I'm still in a bit of a low point, but hey, I need to pick myself up every now and then, right?

Today's featured song is inspired by my sister's profile pic at FaceBook. Her current picture shows four panels with the word: RAMONES! in the middle. At first, I had to scratch my head and think, "is there a new band that has ridden on the coattails of The Ramones' trail blaze of glory?" See, you must understand my confusion because my sister is not exactly well versed when it comes to music. I don't think she even knows a lot of the greats. New generation of music lovers and all. Apparently, what she meant was the same group I have known since forever. :) Here goes my song for today!

Featured song: "Poison Heart" by The Ramones [1992] (Punk rock)

The song was written by the band's ex-bassist Dee Dee Ramone, and is known for being the song that has a different beat than their usual songs.

The song sounds a bit sad but still appeals to me a lot. Although this song is not as well known as their more popular track, "I Wanna Be Sedated," it kinda echoes my state where I "just want to walk right out of this world..." Oh just check out the lyrics below, okay?

Did you know that Dee Dee Ramone offered this song in exchange for the band's bailing him out of jail? No? Well, now you know! :)

Lyrics:

No one ever thought this one would survive
Helpless child, gonna walk a drum beat behind
Lock you in a dream, never let you go
Never let you laugh or smile, not you.

Well, I just want to walk right out of this world,
'Cause everybody has a poison heart
I just want to walk right out of this world,
'Cause everybody has a poison heart.

Making friends with a homeless torn up man
He just kind of smiles, it really shakes me up.
There's danger on every corner but I'm okay
Walking down the street trying to forget yesterday.

Well, I just want to walk right out of this world,
'Cause everybody has a poison heart.
I just want to walk right out of this world,
'Cause everybody has a poison heart,
a poison heart, a poison heart, a poison heart ... yeah!

You know that life really takes its toll
And a poet's gut reaction is to search his very soul
So much damn confusion before my eyes,
But nothing seems to phase me and this one still survives.

I just want to walk right out of this world,
'Cause everybody has a poison heart.
I just want to walk right out of this world,
'Cause everybody has a poison heart,
Well, I just want to walk right out of this world,
'Cause everybody has a poison heart.
a poison heart, a poison heart, a poison heart.
a poison heart, a poison heart, a poison heart.

Freshlyground - Doo Be Doo

Nice day today, folks!

And it's FRIDAY!!! :) Care to sway to the beat with me? I promise ya this song is really nice.. especially for this nice morning.

Featured song: "Doo Be Doo" by Freshlyground [2004] (Jazz, Afropop)

This song is from Freshlyground's album, Nomvula, which was released in 2004. In case you did not know, Freshlyground is a band that is known for its Afro-fusion, as most of the band members are from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. What I like about their songs is that it makes you feel good at the same time happy.

Recently, the band has received an increase of popularity due to the collaboration they made with Shakira in the 2010 World Cup's theme song "Waka Waka (This time for Africa)". On their own right, the band has produced a number of well received singles, especially "Doo Be Doo."

If you listened to the clip above, you would have to agree, right?

Now have I brightened up your day or what?? :)

Doris Day - Que Sera, Sera

It's almost Friday.

However, I am currently going through a crisis. So this is my current soundtrack.

Featured song: "Que Sera, Sera" by Doris Day [1964] (Pop / Remake)

Well, this version is just one of many other remakes of this popular song. However, pardon me if I only hear Doris Day whenever I think of this song.

I remember this song clearly, and I even memorized this song because this is one of the common answers my grandmother would give me whenever I asked questions or something along those lines. :D

Have a nice day

Lyrics:

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother what will I be
Will I be pretty
Will I be rich
Here's what she said to me

Que sera sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera sera
What will be, will be

When I grew up and fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we had rainbows day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said

Que sera sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera sera
What will be, will be

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome, will I be rich
I tell them tenderly

Que sera sera
Whatever will be will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera sera

What will be, will be
Que sera sera...

Mika - Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)

Guess who's back? I am!! :P

Here, here, don't cry. This be my comeback song:

Featured song: "Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)" by MIKA [2006] (Glam rock)

The song is inspiring, yes?

Well a few days ago, I was out trying to find jeans that would fit me. Unfortunately size has always been a problem of mine since I live in a part of the world that does not cater to the likes of me and my size. It sucks really. Of course, if you are a girl, this would be a complete downer for you because it is like one of the things that could depress you. Well, it depressed me.

MIKA wrote this song in celebration of curvier women. I think there is less of these songs all over the world because most preconceived ideas about beauty is that a girl has to be skinny. Anyway, this could be an anthem for me, myself, and I, as it definitely picked me up from the sadness.

So, big girls, if any of you are reading. Remember: YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!! :)

Matchbox 20 - Unwell

Hi! I'm back!

After a long hiatus, I have surfaced from the depths of the Earth to take back my seat in this blogging world.

No, seriously, I have been absent for a while due to certain circumstances that could not be prevented. My grandma is in the hospital intensive care unit, and is still on her way to recovery.

Featured song: "Unwell" by Matchbox 20 [2002] (Pop rock)

The song may pertain to my grandmother being unwell. But this song means much more to me rather than its reflection on current events.

The song talks about a person who claims he is not crazy although he may seem to be. This is something that relates to me, since there have been various instances where people have dubbed me as crazy - not just as a joke but sometimes perhaps out of spite or incredulousity(?). Be that as it may, I know I am crazy... and as what Rob Thomas said in an interview, the song is basically for people who more or less are "f*cked up and feel alone like that. We all feel a little f*cked up sometimes ... you're not alone."

This song can be found in Matchbox 20's album "More Than You Think You Are," and it was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 2004.

Lyrics:

All day
Staring at the ceiling
Making friends with shadows on my wall
All night
Hearing voices telling me
That I should get some sleep
Because tomorrow might be good for something
Hold on
I'm feeling like I'm headed for a
Breakdown
I don't know why
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know, right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be
Me
Talking to myself in public
Dodging glances on the train
I know
I know they've all been talking 'bout me
I can hear them whisper
And it makes me think there must be something wrong
With me
Out of all the hours thinking
Somehow
I've lost my mind
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be
I been talking in my sleep
Pretty soon they'll come to get me
Yeah, they're taking me away
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know, right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy I'm just a little impaired
I know, right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be
Hey, how I used to be
How I used to be, yeah
Well I'm just a little unwell
How I used to be
How I used to be

I Can't Go On, I'll Go On ft. Aly Michalka - Someone To Fall Back On

Sorry for the absence guys. I was a wee bit busy. Anyway, here's my latest offering. I hope you like it! :)

Featured song: "Someone to Fall Back On" by I'll Can't Go On, I'll Go On ft. Aly Michalka [2009] (Indie)

The song is taken from the movie "Bandslam" that was released last year. The movie features Aly Michalka [Phil of the Future] of the duo 78violet. Vanessa Hudgens [High School Musical series], and Gaelan Connell [Law & Order, Chocolat]. The song above is one of the movie's band together with Aly Michalka. The movie's soundtrack actually features a number of really interesting tracks, including a cover of a song by Bread which I will feature later on.

I actually have this song on replay on my player for a couple of days now. What captivates me the most is the quiet intro that later blends into something more upbeat. Plus, it does not sound much like Aly. Heehee I like Aly and her sister, but I will feature them later on.

The tone of the song from the start makes me feel wistful or something. Like I'm flying a bit on clouds although the song is not that happy really. But it's okay. LOL You should listen, really. Whatever it is, I keep playing this song again and again. :)

Lyrics:
I'll never be
A knight in armor
With a sword in hand,
Or a kamikaze fighter;
Dont count on me
To storm the barricades
And take a stand,
Or hold my ground;
Youll never see
Any scars or wounds -
I dont walk on coals,
I wont walk on water:
I am no prince,
I am no saint,
I am not anyones wildest dream,
But I will stand behind
And be someone to fall back on.

Some comedy -
Youre bruised and beaten down
And Im the one
Whos looking for a favor.
Still, honestly,
You dont believe me
But the things I have
Are the things you need.
You look at me
Like I dont make sense,
Like a waste of time,
Like it serves no purpose -
I am no prince,
I am no saint,
And if thats what you believe you need,
Youre wrong - you dont need much,
You need someone to fall back on...

And Ill be that:
Ill take your side.
If Im the only one,
Im used to that.
Ive been alone,
Id rather be
The half of us,
The least of you,
The best of me.
And I will be
i'll be Your prince,
Ill be your saint,
I will go crashing through fences
In your name. I will, I swear -
Ill be someone to fall back on!
Ill be the one who waits,
And for as long as youll let me,
I will be the one you need.
Ill be someone to fall back on
ill be someone to fall back on
one to fall back on...

Daniel Powter - Bad Day

Hmmm... This song should say it all.

Featured song: "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter [2004] (Pop rock)

Well, you could say no words can express current feelings better than the lyrics of the song.

"Bad Day" by Daniel Powter was released in 2004, and I think it appeals a lot to people because a lot of people can relate to having certain bad days. I think there is nothing wrong with having bad days because it happens even to the best of us.

We all have to cope with bad days, and if you are like me, I just sing it off. What else could I possibly do?

I do need a blue sky holiday. Talk to you later.

XOXO.

Lyrics:

Where is the moment we needed the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to gray
They tell me your passion's gone away
And I don't need no carryin' on

You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You're faking a smile with the coffee you go
You tell me your life's been way off line
You're falling to pieces every time
And I don't need no carryin' on

Because you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Will you need a blue sky holiday?
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don't need no carryin' on

You had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don't lie
You're coming back down and you really don't mind
You had a bad day

(Oooh.. a holiday..)

Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I'm not wrong

(yeah...)

So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

Cause you had a bad day
You're taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don't know
You tell me don't lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You've seen what you like
And how does it feel for one more time
You had a bad day
You had a bad day

Musicovery: Discovering music in a colorful way

If you want to listen some tunes but you cannot seem to hit that musicraving that you are looking for? You could try Musicovery.

Screenshot of Musicovery. Click to enlarge.

I found Musicovery while bouncing around the net looking for this and this. Anyway, I think Musicovery is a great site for those who want to look for songs that suit their mood and their preference for that day.

The first thing I like about the site is that it is so pretty. Hrhrhr.. Beauty and color aside, the site features an option to search for an artist or a keyword actually, then you can select your mood from either dark, energetic, positive, or calm, then you have dance options for those who feel like dancing.

At the bottom of the panel you can find the decade of the songs that you want to listen to, plus the genre of the songs. If you're like me, you'd be clicking "All Genres" or maybe just something else.

You can also set preference whether you like to hear the tried and tested hits, or new artists that are bubbling just beneath the surface? Your choice, your music, Musicovery! Hehehe

Anyway, it is a great site for those who have stumbled into Internet cafes and are in dire need of some good tunes to help release those pent up feelings. Give it a spin and see how it goes. :)

Of course, there is a catch. You may need to register in order to play some tracks and save your preferences. You can opt to avail of the paid account for $4.00 a month, too, so you can listen to your favorite tracks in HiFi mode, but if I were you, I would take all the free services if I do not rely on the site for all my musical happiness. :)

Cheers!

George Jones - Finally Friday

Time to do the happy dance folks! Yahoo!! Friday! Friday! Friday! Now how about some good ol' country music to get those happy feet movin'?

Featured song: "Finally Friday" by George Jones [1992] (Country)

How many of you listen to country music? Raise your feet please? :) No, not Miley Cyrus songs or well, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood have their own great country tunes too. But George Jones? George Jones is old school. And you know there is NO SCHOOL like OLD SCHOOL.

"Finally Friday" is a song from Jones' Walls Can Fall album that was released in 1992. The lyrics, I believe, touches the hearts of many people. You really don't have to deny it to feign innocence. Who does not look forward to their weekend? You'd be lying if you told me straight out you don't want the weekend to come. Yes?

Anyway, I cannot wait to get my Friday on so I can embrace my weekend with open arms, and I shall dance to this happy little song. Listen and enjoy. And don't forget the lyrics!! :)

Lyrics:

I got a hundred dollars smokin' in my billfold
I know I oughta save it but it's burnin' a hole
Right through my pocket and into my skin
Come Monday morning I'll be broke again.

It's finally Friday
I'm free again
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday
I'm outa' control
Forget the workin' blues
And let the good times roll.

I got a little sugar baby down the road
She's sittin' on a radio and rockin' on roll
We'll dance up a storm and later all night
We'll be workin' on doin' all the wrong things right.

It's finally Friday
I'm free again
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday
I'm outa' control
Forget the workin' blues
And let the good times roll.

--- Instrumental ---

Monday, I'll be hurtin with my head in a vice
Tuesday, I'll be wonderin' if I'll ever survive
Wednesday and Thursday, I'll be slowly tunin' in
Friday, I'll be revin' up my motor again.

It's finally Friday
I'm free again
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday
I'm outa' control
Forget the workin' blues
And let the good times roll.

It's finally Friday
I got my motor running for a wild weekend
It's finally Friday
Forget the workin' blues
And let the good times roll...

Mandy Moore - Crush

Guess who is still up at 1:30 in the morning? ME! That's who!!

Yeah, and I feel like I have bags of coffee piped into me. I am THAT hyper I guess. Heeheehee

These days, lots of people inspire me to conjure up songs for their lives. Of course, my life is not the only one that has an imaginary soundtrack. The lives of other people have their own tracks too. I guess I just have the knack of finding the song for that person. More like a habit, really.

Let's go somewhere in MY youth where boy bands and pop princesses rule. :)

Featured song: "Crush" by Mandy Moore [2001] (Pop)

This. This song goes out to Pebbykins. Although she is NOT my crush, but somewhere along our conversation a few minutes ago, she mentioned something something, and then this song played in my head. Of course, pertaining to what our conversation was about.

I happen to like this song because it is a far cry from Mandy Moore's debut single "Candy." While Candy has this tendency to be easily memorized; I do not like it. It's like those novelty songs you see on Wowowee where it has LSS material but it is not like you really like the song. It just sticks to your brain like post-its.

What I like about "Crush" is that it sounds so light and giddy... like having a crush on somebody. :) Duh. The music video is not awful, too. Although I like Mandy Moore's recent style than this version of her. This song and video feels like it is just getting out of the cocoon of bubble gum pop with blond hair and pouting lips.

Yeah, I need to sleep. Gnyt!!! *waves*

Jordin Sparks - One Step at a Time

Just a quick post for all of you, especially to somebody who I hope is okay today. This song goes out to that "maot" person who may not be feeling soo well today.

Featured song: "One Step at a Time" by Jordin Sparks [2007] (Pop/RnB)

While I am not familiar with all of Jordin Sparks' songs, I do know some of her songs, which I happen to like as well. Her song "No Air" is one of my favorite songs by Jordin Sparks. "One Step at a Time" is the song that comes a close next. :)

Like I said, this is just a quick post, but I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I hope that this also cheers up my friend who knows this is the song I have dedicated to her. Hrhrhrhrhr..

Part of the lyrics which I think applies the most to my friend:

We live and we learn to take
One step at a time
There's no need to rush
It's like learning to fly
Or falling in love
It's gonna happen and it's
Supposed to happen and we
Find the reasons why
One step at a time

Dararaah humm darah,
Dararaah darumdarah.

You believe and you doubt
You're confused, you got it all figured out
Everything that you always wished for
Could be yours, should be yours, would be yours
If they only knew

AC/DC -- Rock 'n Roll Damnation

Right! Pleasant morning everybody. I skipped from posting yesterday as I had to finish something. Then I went out with my sibs so I was bushed by the end of the day.

It is a great day to start chaos, yes? Especially since Friday is coming and I cannot wait for it to arrive! Let's start the day wonderful, shall we?

Featured song: "Rock 'n Roll Damnation" by AC/DC [1978] (Hard Rock)

Somebody once chastised me for listening to AC/DC. Why? Because they said AC/DC is pure EEEEEEVIL! *rolls eyes* LOL Evil or not, you have to admit they have good music, and I don't think you will find me worshiping the Basement Cat anytime soon.

AC/DC... Well, AC/DC will always be AC/DC. If you don't know them, then you should really check your iPod, WinAmp, or at least YouTube. ;) Or you could listen to the song... If you are not familiar with this particular song, you might be familiar with their more popular song "Highway to Hell." Of course, this is one of the songs that somewhat fueled the news that the band members were satanists. You be the judge of that. As for me, I also love "Highway to Hell." In fact, it's one of my favorite road tunes. Heeheehee.

I want today to be a rockin' good time, so let's get this show on the road. Have a good day folks!! And don't remember to have a blast.

Blind Melon - No Rain

Good evening. I know I was not able to post something for your morning tunes, but I hope you will forgive me for my first offense? ;)

I ran into a bit of a problem today, and although I cannot express my feelings here or anywhere else, I hope you will take my latest offering and feel what I am trying to express.

Featured song: "No Rain" by Blind Melon [1993] (Alternative rock, folk rock)

Words cannot express how much I relate to this song. Perhaps I am interpreting it incorrectly, but I cannot help but feel as though this song knows exactly how I feel in numerous instances in my life.

You cannot believe how much craziness my life revolves in. It could be that I still have not found that niche where I should be, or maybe I am not using the things I have for what they are meant to be. Anyway, for me, the song indicates some sort of entrapment where people or society have a problem with how a person displays or performs in public.

Anyway, you can do the math.

This song is considered as one of the most memorable songs of Blind Melon. It is best remembered for its music video that shows a little girl in a bumblebee suit who was laughed at when performing. You can see the video on Youtube, but I have not found a clear copy of the video there.

Hope you like it, and hope you drop by again tomorrow! :)

Lyrics:

All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
I like watchin' the puddles gather rain
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two
and speak my point of view
But it's not sane, It's not sane
I just want some one to say to me
I'll always be there when you wake
Ya know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today
So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I don't understand why I sleep all day
And I start to complain that there's no rain
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake
And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape
escape......escape......escape......
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
ya don't like my point of view
ya think I'm insane
Its not sane......it's not sane

Frankie Avalon - Venus

Long, long, long before there were singing teen idols like the Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber, there was Frankie Avalon.

Note: To fully appreciate the featured song, you may check out the video and see for yourself how Frankie Avalon captured the hearts of the girls he sang to. Or you can listen to the music itself and be melted by his voice.

Featured song: "Venus" by Frankie Avalon [1959] (Adult Contemporary)

Frankie Avalon was born on September 18, 1939, which makes him 70 years old as of today. When he was a young adult, he captured and broke many hearts of girls when he sang or appeared on screen. Not only is Frankie Avalon a good singer, but he is also a good actor, and a dreamy heartthrob - well, especially during that time.

The song "Venus" has made its mark in the music industry, and has sometimes been recognized as one of the best songs of the 1950s. This song, however, is not the only song that Frankie Avalon has released as he has other well known songs such as "Cupid," "Why," "Beauty School Dropout," "Tuxedo Junction," "A Boy Without a Girl," and many more.

In case you are wondering as to how on earth I was introduced to this song, I think it was through my grandfather's collection of vinyl records. ;)

Although I do love Frankie Avalon's dreamy voice, I must say I love the lyrics of the song. Most people I know go through a lot of heartbreak, especially girls who have trouble finding guys who will stay. Check out the lyrics below:

Lyrics:
Hey, Venus
Oh, Venus

Venus, if you will
Please send a little girl for me to thrill
A girl who wants my kisses and my arms
A girl with all the charms of you

Venus, make her fair
A lovely girl with sunlight in her hair
And take the brightest stars up in the skies
And place them in her eyes for me

Venus, goddess of love that you are
Surely the things I ask
Can't be too great a task

Venus, if you do
I promise that I always will be true
I'll give her all the love I have to give
As long as we both shall live

Venus, goddess of love that you are
Surely the things I ask
Can't be too great a task

Venus if you do
I promise that I always will be true
I'll give her all the love I have to give
As long as we both shall live

Hey, Venus
Oh, Venus
Make my wish come true

Sajama - Canalegre

Greetings!

Wonderful Saturday morning everybody!

I'm feeling rather off today. I got knocked out by a sudden severe headache. I honestly have no idea what happened. Even now my head still aches. Anyway, I will leave you with this nice relaxing song I came to love last year.

Featured song: "Canalegre" by Sajama [2007 - not sure] (Instrumental, Indie)

I found this song while watching Ten Inch Hero. The band, "Sajama" is different from "Sajama Cut." I reckon this band is more of the indie kind because I really could not find any album from this artist, but I did find a Facebook page.

I really love the beat and melody of the song. The first time I heard this song, I felt like I was transported to somewhere relaxing - somewhere I have not been in a long time. I remember this particular song because I blogged about my daydream in my Tumblr account, and my entry went:

I am at the office, but my mind is somewhere else.

Today, we take a trip to the beach, where the breeze is chilly, the sun is tucked behind some blue-gray clouds, and waves are mild yet frothing.

Sounds of Conga drums and guitar strings waft through the air, and somebody is playing a bamboo flute somewhere ...

And I am perched on the cold sea wall.. staring into the blue.

*closes eyes*

Hehehe I think I was doing overtime work that day, and I got tired of the four walls that restricted me.

Anyway, that is what I feel like today. Hopefully I will snap out of this.

Talk to you later folks! Enjoy your weekend!!

911 - "Party People ... Friday Night"

ZOMFG! It is Friday!! Boy, oh boy, do I wanna dance the night away. Okay, maybe I cannot really do that, but I am very ecstatic that it is already Friday night and all I can do is just focus on the articles I have to work on without having to think about whatever happened at my day job.

You have to pardon me though. While I am very hyped up and ready to party, the songs that are blasting in my head point to... boy bands!! :) In the spirit of Friday night, I present to you one of the hit boy bands of MY generation:

Featured song: "Party People ... Friday Night" by 911 [1997] (Pop)

Harharharhar

Oh nothing. I just felt like laughing. Okay, they look cheesy, but back in MY day, they looked cute, and these were the types of songs we would dance to. Now that I think about it, you know, we danced to these songs even if we really could not relate to the songs. I mean, come on, I was in sixth grade. LOL All we knew was that it was Friday and we were going to partaaaaaaayyy!!

Anyway, let me revert my brain to those blissful days and let me dance. Hehehe.. I have a Backstreet Boys bit coming next.

I will not be judged! LOL

Timbaland ft. Katy Perry - If We Ever Meet Again

Are there times during the day when sleepiness hits you? You know, when you feel drowsy and sluggish? For me, its 4-5 pm almost every single afternoon. It's like I'm just going going going gone... *yawn*

I also just ate 2 mug of ice cream, palabok, chips, and Mt. Dew. Yeahp, attack of the stomach. Anyway, I think that played a huge part of my drowsiness, so I need a huge pick-me-up that does not have coffee connected to it. Why not dance or force myself to move, yes? Here we go...

Featured song: "If We Ever Meet Again" by Timbaland ft. Katy Perry [2010] (RnB, Dance-pop)

I kinda fell in love with the song because it is upbeat and a little bit happy. Plus, doesn't it make you feel like dancing? :) I know I do.

This song is said to be inspired by the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," and if you think about it, it does have a bit of that flavor going on, yes? :) I love the music video, and Katy Perry does look rather cute, right? The music itself is catchy, and I keep on playing it in my head, especially in moments where I feel like launching off to snoozeland.

Anyway, I still feel like sleeping. I guess I shall have to get that cuppa coffee now. Talk to you laterz!!

I Can See Clearly Now

Good morning!

I hope you slept well last night. :) I did - to a certain extent. Today seems to be promising. I can see sunlight streaming through our windows, and the cool breeze just blowing through. I do feel like it is going to be a nice day. Why don't we kick off this nice day with an equally nice song?

Featured song: "I Can See Clearly Now" by Jimmy Cliff [1993] (Pop-Reggae)

I don't know about you, but there is something about this song that feels uplifting for me. It makes me feel like the day is going to go well even if obstacles will eventually happen, but I think it will still be "a bright sunshinin' day."

I chose Jimmy Cliff's version, although the original song was by Johnny Nash in 1972, mainly because of the movie Cool Runnings. If you have not seen the movie, I suggest that you do. It's actually a fun movie, but most importantly it somewhat teaches those who watch it that troubles will clear up and eventually hard work pays off. Plus, Jimmy Cliff's version gives me this uplifting feeling more than Johnny Nash's version. Other artists have also done covers of this song, such as Beat Crusaders, Doyle Bramhall, Donny Osmond, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Sonny and Cher, Soul Asylum, and more.

Now why don't you sing along with me?

Lyrics:
I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day
It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

Oh yes, I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Here's the rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day
It's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day
Real, real, real, real bright, bright sunshinin' day
Yeah, hey, it's gonna be a bright, bright sunshinin' day

I hope you all have a nice day! :)

Sean Kingston ft. Justin Bieber - Eenie Meenie

Howdy! Did you eat lunch yet? I'm currently on my Jollibee Ice Craze Mango Caramel something something.

While I enjoy this little treat, I would like to share this relatively new song by Sean Kingston and Justin Bieber.

Featured song: "Eenie Meenie" by Sean Kingston ft. Justin Bieber [2010] (Electropop, reggae fusion, dance-pop)

I came across this song when somebody at Twitter tweeted about it. Because of its name, curiosity got the best of me and I just had to listen to it.

It's pretty good, actually. I like Sean Kingston in this song. It is pretty catchy too! I shared this with my husband's brother and I got him singing the song within 10 minutes. LOL Totally LSS quality. What I don't like about the song is Justin Bieber's part. Sorry tweens. Okay, Bieber's part can be pardoned because of Kingston's part. I also have to admit that the fusion between the two styles has created something nice. :)

I still prefer the song if Justin Bieber did not sing in it. I want to hear a version of the song with only Sean Kingston singing. :) But that's just me. It's just that I find Bieber's voice rather feminine.

As mentioned earlier, what caught my attention is the half-rapped breakdown that goes

"Eenie meenie miny moe
Catch a bad chick by her toe.
If she hollers, let her go.
Eenie meenie miny moe."

Of course you realize this is a play of the children's rhyme that goes:

"Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers let him go,
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe."

I think the lyrics is cleverly made. Who would have thought a nursery rhyme would be used in a song talking about a girl who is indecisive as to who she chooses. Ladies, you know this is true. There are some women who string along some guys because they do not know who to choose. ;)

The song can be found in Sean Kingston's third album (still untitled) and Justin Bieber's album called "My World 2.0."

Back to work peeps! I'll talk to you later.

Def Leppard - Rock of Ages

Good evening guys and gals!

Featured song: "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard [1983] (Hard Rock)

To be honest, I have not heard this song in a long while. I think the last time I listened to this was when my late uncle was still alive. He was an definitely influence on my musical preferences, so you could say I was not exactly a stranger to this great song.

The reason I remembered this song was because of Supernatural (Season 5, Episode 22 - Swan Song). I am a huge fan, not only because of yummy Jensen Ackles, but also because of the soundtrack and Dean Winchester. :) His personality rocks!

Anyway, sometime at the highest part of the episode, Dean arrives and plays this song. The part where the intro "Gunter glieben glauchen globen" came out, I actually thought it was The Offspring's "Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)", which has borrowed the intro from this song. If it would be odd if it was The Offspring because the show features classic rock, not punk rock. Of course the next lines proved that it wasn't "Pretty Fly."

It tickled me pink so I decided to scour for the song and share it with you today. The first four words are just gibberish actually, but hey, it's catchy.

You have to know Def Leppard. You just have to. If you don't then, now you do! :) The song is featured in Def Leppard's album Pyromania. Listen and enjoy!

Dancing in the Street

I feel like dancing today, even though the sun is barely up, I would like to start off my day with a *BANG!*

Featured song: "Dancing in the Street" by Martha and The Vandellas [1964] (Motown)

The first time I came across this song was in Whoopi Goldberg's movie, Sister Act 2. Although I heard the altered version first, I love the original one a wee bit more.

The song is known as the signature song of Martha and The Vandellas, and has been covered by many famous artists such as Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Dusty Springfield, The Kinks, Grateful Dead, Human Nature, and more. Even Van Halen and Little Richard has their own version of the song, which is really cool because it has survived many decades, and is still awesome to listen to.

Whose version have you heard? I have not listened to all of the versions of this song, but I am very content with it. Did you know that some people thought this song was "a call to riot"? LOL well, they had their reasons.

Now shall we dance?

Introduction [0:30]

Hey folks!

My name is Lurchie, a 20-ish nutcase who just loves music, and this is the realization of a longtime dream of setting up a music blog.

At first I was hesitant to do so because somebody told me I had the wrong idea of what to put in a music blog. However, I came to realize that nobody on the Internet can dictate what to call what, so I am going ahead with it anyway.

This blog will showcase the songs that I know, love, discovered, and enjoyed, with a little background of how I came to know these songs, and perhaps a trivia or two about the band and song. I would also like to do some reviews of new tunes that hit the airwaves or some issues in the world of music.

Well, we learn as we go... And now, I hope you enjoy the songs that play at some point in my life.

Peace!
